- Did Apple really send this alert?
- No. Apple does not display security alerts through web browsers. Real Apple security notifications appear only in your device's system notifications or when you sign in at appleid.apple.com.
- Is my phone or computer infected?
- Unlikely. Seeing a scam alert in your browser is not the same as being infected. Simply close the tab. If you clicked a link or downloaded anything, run a malware scan.
- What if I can't close the pop-up?
- Force-quit your browser entirely. On Mac: Command + Option + Escape. On Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Esc, then end the browser task. On iPhone: swipe up from the Home Screen and swipe the browser away.
- I called the number — what do I do?
- If you gave payment details or remote access, contact your bank immediately and change your Apple ID password at appleid.apple.com. Report the incident to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
